How to Keep Your Flower Bouquet Fresh
Looking for ways to get the most out of your bouquet or custom flower arrangement? Here are a few tips to keep your flowers lasting as long as possible!
Always keep the water fresh and full. This means emptying the remaining water, rinsing your container, and replacing with cool water.
Keep your vase out of direct sunlight. Flowers get hot just like us - you wouldnโt want to sit in front of a hot window all day and neither do your flowers.
Trim the stems. I recommend doing this on day 2 or 3 and again on days 5 or 7. If you are receiving fresh cut flowers from our farm, they were just cut and never left the water source, so thereโs no need to snip right away. If you got flowers elsewhere, you likely will want to cut a good bit off as soon as you get them home.
Snip spent blooms. Have a droopy flower or an overachiever that tuckered out? Either remove that whole stem and compost or toss outside, or if the stem has numerous blooms just snip the sad one and continue enjoying the rest!
Keep your arrangement or bouquet away from fresh fruit, veggies, and compost. Many fresh fruits and vegetables omit a gas that makes flowers sad and die quickly. Choose a location that is separate from your fruit and veggies.
