Farm fresh recipes, botanically inspired cooking, chicken talk, sustainable flower, herb, and garden care and tips?
Welcome to Flower Farm Farm Life!
Join Dew Lily Farm as I share tips on sustainably growing annual and perennial flowers, medicinal herbs, greenery, and occasionally fruit and veggies in the high desert mountains of Western Colorado. Growing in 6b has its challenges, which is a polite way of saying that zones are silly and should be re-evaluated (update: they were! more on that later!). Growing in a zone that is technically 6b resembles a dry desert-like zone 8 in the summer and a cold, snowy, muddy zone 5 in the winter. Working with fertile but hard-packed clay soil while practicing better than organic, sustainable, and occasionally bio-dynamic gardening is a joy and challenge I love to share. Gardening provides endless opportunities for healing, learning, and growth physically and mentally. Add in learning how to become a sustainable wedding florist, with an evolving interest in medicinal herbs and flowers, a newfound love of writing, and a bit of art, and you have Flower Farm Life…..welcome to the joy of flowers.
